Panasonic RPHXS400EG1 : Very good for the general user

Inexpensive and good-looking. Normally i’m not keen on earcups that aren’t circumaural, and sit on top of your ears instead, but with these i don’t mind. They’re surprisingly comfortable. They also look really nice; they look more expensive than they are. The audio isn’t brilliant, but you can’t expect it to be at this price point. It’s more than acceptable though. The relative lack of bass and mids can often be compensated for using an equaliser, dependent upon the device they’re connected to. Overall, i like panasonic’s rp-hxs400 headphones. They’re affordable, comfortable, and their good looks belie their inexpensive price tag.

Really good quality – well made and robustexcellent sound quality, and very comfortable.

Comfortable, sound weak out-of-the-box, but can sound decent if tweaked. These are really comfortable, and passively cut out external sound really well. The build quality / materials are probably slightly better than i expected for the price point. The flattened cable is intended to prevent tangling – and it does seem to have helped. Playing music back from my smartphone, i initially found the sound rather disappointing – the vocal range of frequencies was particularly weak. (other amazon reviewers have described the sound as ‘muddy’; a description that works well here). Therefore straight out of the box, i wouldn’t have rated these higher than two stars. However, i installed an equalizer app on my smartphone and boosted the vocal frequencies – and after that intervention the headphones sounded pretty good and i’m happy with them. Unfortunately this only helps on devices that give the option to tweak the sound in this way.

These ear phones look very good and are robust in design and manufacture. Currently they are available at about £30 from amazon (this is a sale price) and they are certainly worth that sort of money. Sound quality is above satisfactory without being outstanding in clarity of reproduction. Initially comfortable enough to wear they can be rather tight on the ears over a period of time. I have found them more than adequate for use with my tablet. They also fold down flat for easy transportation. If you want something better i suspect you will have to pay a lot more.

  • Look far better than they sound
  • Eye-catching but ear-crushing (in my experience)
  • Great for outdoor use

I picked up a new pair of these in black from a private seller on ebay real cheap. I have the predecessor the rp hxd5 which is still on sale at a cheaper price. Here is my first impressions review of the hxs400;build quality: this is a significantly bigger headphone than the hxd5 with funkier appearance clearly aimed at the youth market. All plastic construction with good ear pads. The pads are softer than the hxd5 but they need to be because this headphone clamps much tighter. The plastics on the hxs400 feel a bit cheap even compared to its predecessor. Features: the hxs400 have a few improvements over the hxd5. A flat single sided cable which is tangle free is a nice upgrade which helps keep the headphones manageable. These also fold flat but don’t completely fold into a compact package so the folding feature is more style over substance.

Good look, good sound, good quality. Good looking pair of headphones, with comfy ear pads and a good, bassy sound. Plenty of noise cancellation too – have been using them in the office for video editing, and so far haven’t wound anyone up with tinny noises, or the repetitive sound coming from my machine as i flick back and forth over clips for timing. The cable is a good, solid anti tangle style plastic coated flat cord, and the earpieces also fold forward which makes the headphones slightly less bulky and easy to put into a bag etc for travel. They’re still pretty big, but they’re not overly large, so not cumbersome.

Good quality sound, comfortable to wear. These headphones are really very good. The white with orange trim gives a smart look to them. The flat cord stops the irritating tangle and the point is angled so movement is easier. The earphones have a padded leather piece which makes them very comfortable. There is also a padded headband which adds to comfort. The headband has good adjustment so they will fit the heads of all the family. The sound quality is excellent for me although i am no music buff and prefer easy listening music. I don’t usually use headphones when running preferring to stick with the lighter, less obvious, earbuds.

Really good quality – well made and robustexcellent sound quality, and very comfortable.

For the money, you can’t go far wrong. If you want a set of earphones that produce a pleasant if slightly bass biased sound and are on a tight budget then this could be just what you are looking for. Audiophiles would probably run a mile from anything like this, but i think panasonic have packed in a bit of sound quality into what is now regarded as a low price point for headphones. As mentioned, i found that (for my taste) the bass was slightly smothering some of the treble frequency but that is a small complaint. There is no avoiding that they do feel little cheap and plasticky. But a nice use of dutch orange as an accent around the silver earpiece gives the headphones a bit of a retro feel and might take your mind off the construction?i think for the money you can’t go far wrong.

There are a huge amount of headphones to choose from, what could make the panasonic’s stand out from the rest?the panasonic’s are a perfect fit, they sit nicely on his head and they look the part, i like the white finish, i don’t want to wear them outside but can see why they would appeal. I am quiet impressed at how good they sound, high notes are crisp, bass defined without thumping. I hooked them up to my ipod, ipad and my marantz cd and they really are excellent, i listened to a live recorded album and for the price there astonishing, just over £30, brilliant. Are they any different to what else is on offer, probably not but i do think you’d be hard pushed to find such a big pair of headphones at the price.

Add another star for smaller heads. I would say, given the “street” tag these have been given that they are aimed primarily at the “yoof” market. At forty years of age, i would feel a bit daft walking about in public with these clamped to my head but i have a feeling that the slightly outlandish look is the thing at the moment so these probably fit that remit well enough. 7 inches wide, so you’ll be adding nearly 4 inches of width to your head. Looks aside, the headphones have a pleasingly robust build with no apparent weak points structurally. The ear pads are pretty massive and soft and allowed to move on their housing for extra comfort. The underside of the headband is also padded for extra comfort. The big win is the no-tangle cord which looks a little like a long, flat length of pasta and, indeed, appears never to tangle or not, a lifelong bugbear sorted there thensoundwise they are very good, nice and loud with a good balance between bass and treble. The only reason i am giving them three is because i found them to be too small and tight for my big old adult head.

The perfect comfy headphones for travel. I recently used these headphones on a holiday flight and found them to be perfect for travel. The tangle free flat chord was an absolute joy to use as opposed to the smartphone type in ear headphones i usually use that come out your pocket like a mass ball of tangled spaghetti. The chord is also a really good length at 1. 2 metres which is around 6 inches (15cms) longer than smartphone earphones. When the headphones are on my head the cable comes down to around the centre of my shin, so plenty of chord length which us really useful. The ear cans themselves are a really nice snug fit and although they are not noise cancelling headphones i found they cut out pretty much all of the airplane noise and i was able to listen to the two and a half hour movie i was watching without any distraction at all. The swivel mechanism allows the headphone cans to fold flat on the top part of your chest/collar bone making them comfy to wear when they are not on your ears. This was very handy as i could pop them round my neck at flight check in so i didn’t need to pack them in my hand luggage. The panasonic on ear street headphones look stylish, they are very lightweight, the long flat chord makes using them really easy to use and they are extremely comfy to use on and off the ear.

Smart looking, great sounding. These panasonic cans look amazing – ice-white with a nice metal ‘disc’ on the ears. The orange highlights and chord are incredibly bright, certainly the funkiest looking headphones i’ve owned. The headphones aren’t the absolute best i’ve heard but the sound is far superior to most. I’ve found that in-earphones have developed so much over the years that the range of sound they are able to emit is far better than they were ten years ago. However the big headphones seem to have focused more on wireless technology rather than sound quality. These aren’t wireless – which i like, i’d prefer to have a chord rather than have to remember to charge them. The sound is perfectly adequate and doesn’t sound ‘hollow’, i’ve watched films on my laptop with these and i had no complaints about sound quality. However they are quite tight, but after a couple of weeks of use they have loosened a bit.

These are quite nice actually. They’re comfortable and sound quality is good with the option to go loud if you like. Style-wise, well, white is the new black and the orange trim is flamboyant enough. They are adjustable and fit all family members well and expand to quite freakish proportions if you need them too. Oh, and the cups fold in to allow for flat storage as well. One shortcoming is that they do not come with any sort of storage device, not even a little pouch, so there’s a good chance they’ll get knackered if you put them in you bag but you can probably pick something up that’ll help you look after them. Still, room for improvement there, panasonic.

Headphones are a pretty individual matter but i actually like these. They function fantastic on my android pill, desktop personal computer, on my large ham radio established and on my bedside clock radio. They come to feel extremely mild on the head and have a awesome tone with a great deal of bass. Sensitivity is incredibly great so the headphones create a loud sound even though only demanding a small to medium volume location. This is a excellent factor mainly because it can only prolong the battery daily life of the unit feeding the phones. 5mm jack plug is gold colored and established at a proper-angle to the cable, so it matches properly flush with your tablet or other system. two metres of cable length, the get to is just suitable for personalized audio listening.

Pretty relaxed to wear, thick padding about the ear. Adjustable band is strong, effectively ample produced. The ear pieces swivel suitable and remaining. I like the brushed steel search. Good cord size for daily use. The sound is a minor bit tinny, but superior sufficient bass and clarity for this cost variety. Nonetheless i have heard a lot improved, so make sure you be aware you’re even now acquiring fairly lower high-quality headphones (as the value implies).

There are a substantial amount of headphones to select from, what could make the panasonic’s stand out from the rest?the panasonic’s are a fantastic suit, they sit nicely on his head and they look the section, i like the white end, i never want to don them outside but can see why they would appeal. I am tranquil amazed at how excellent they sound, higher notes are crisp, bass outlined devoid of thumping. I hooked them up to my ipod, ipad and my marantz cd and they genuinely are superb, i listened to a live recorded album and for the cost there astonishing, just around £30, amazing. Are they any distinct to what else is on give, in all probability not but i do imagine you’d be really hard pushed to locate this sort of a big pair of headphones at the value.

These headphones are seriously not bad thinking of the rate. They glimpse extremely fantastic, for starters. The sound thoroughly clean enough to make the copy of most genres of music all right. Having said that, i identified them rather awkward on my ears, urgent down way too significantly. The in shape isn’t really fantastic so you will find a large amount of seem leakage and my partner could hear me from the other side of the space. These are the sort of headphones that would annoy whoever is sitting down following to you on the bus. All in all, these panasonic headphones are superior enough for dwelling use and gaming.

Eye-catching but ear-crushing (in my expertise). Irrespective of the present-day product description, the ‘on-ear headset’ i gained is:♦ ref: rp-hxs400ewthis is a vibrant headset, from panasonic, introduced in a (tests-to-open) blister pack, measuring all-around 17. ♦ color : white with orange, pale gray & chrome effectgiven a colour decision i possibly would have opted for a darker concept as they undoubtedly caught the eye, probably not for the correct factors as considerably as my age group is concernedfrom the packaging:* ‘large forty mm drivers with neodymium magnet for powerful dynamic seem* compact and light-weight for outdoor use* relaxed gentle head pad and ear pads* frequency reaction : * 9 hz – 26 khz* impedance (ohm) / 1 khz * 32 Ω* sensitivity (db / mw) * a hundred and ten db/mw (at 500hz)* max. Enter (mw) * a thousand (iec : worldwide electrotechnical fee). They aspect a swivel mechanism which allows them to fold flat for quick packing’i am not notably professional in this form of solution but the timing of the offer to consider them out was opportune as they arrived just forward of a long mentor journey, a strategy of transportation i am not terribly eager on at the most effective of occasions. The flattened wire size is about one. 2 m and is attached to just one side, ending in a 3. The ‘swivel mechanism’ which enables the c 7 cm diameter, spherical-shaped earpieces to turn in is practical – to a issue – but the headset is even now pretty cumbersome and not that ‘flat’ to suit in an now nicely-stuffed bag. The packaging states:~ ‘179 g (web)/163 g (with no twine)’the product description states:~ ‘they weigh a mere 179 g with no chord, so you can barely know they’re there. ‘whichever weight is proper, i do not know if this is notably mild for a headset of this variety as i have nothing to evaluate it to but i would have to dispute the latter component of the assert. I undoubtedly knew that they were therei altered the ratchet-design and style headband to a comparatively limited fit in an attempt to limit external sound but irrespective of the frivolously padded underside of the best, it was not a particularly comfortable experience and i am not notably bigheadedafter quite a short period of time, not only did my ears ache but they obtained warm and sticky behind the cushioned ear-pads, likely thanks to the polyurethane-sort(?) material, even on an air-conditioned coach. In terms of noise exclusion, the mentor engine was fully masked (fortunately) but my colleague sitting down together with could easily detect shakira and phil collins, among the othersin phrases of sound high-quality and soon after tweaking several gizmos accordingly at the time back property, my all round emotion is that it is a minimal on the ‘hollow’ side.

Comfortable and glance superior but. They look better than they sound. ‘ this about sums up these panasonic headphones. But in fairness they are both equally comfortable and glimpse superior, but unfortunately that is wherever it ends. If you want a high-quality sound that allows you to listen to your songs at its very best, then you will need some headphones that price tag far additional than these. These panasonic headphones are not garbage and rather honestly for a great deal of audio they are enough – that’s why 4 stars and not 2 – certainly i have employed them as a observe for recording and they are great. For daily use they do the work. On the other hand – the above is about original utilization. I have discovered that after a week or so of significant listening they seemed to settle down and do essentially seem fairly far better.
